New 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
2017 Chrysler Pacifica
It’s an all-new minivan, with a new name—and by our estimate, it’s also the best. As a family hauler, safety is key; Chrysler boasts of more than 100 standard and available features including a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision alert. Stow n’ Go seats are standard; a built-in vacuum is on the top model. The sole engine is a 287-hp V-6 with a 9-speed automatic; a hybrid comes later, with an electric-only range of 30 miles.
Pacifica is one of the best-looking van bodies ever plopped atop four wheels. Building on current Chrysler styling themes, it’s heavily sculpted, with character lines that swoop, soar, and droop with the reckless abandon of a 10-year-old using a French-curve tool for the first time. Despite the riot of lines, it’s particularly good in profile with the tail tapering back to a rear window that simulates a wraparound effect.
